Erik Calderón of McAllen, Texas, joined Greater Mission in 2019 and brings 15 years of business development experience to our team.
A lifelong member of the Catholic Church, Erik has served its ministries and organizations in various capacities over 17 years.
Below is a Q&A with Erik to share more about him and his work with Greater Mission.
Q: Would you tell us a little about yourself and your life these days?
A: I love spending time with my wife and 8-year-old son. These days, we spend most weekends traveling throughout Texas accompanying our son to his next baseball tournament.
When we are not at a baseball tournament, we spend as much quality time as possible with our families, where there is always BBQing or dancing.
Q: What led you to a career in the mission-driven world?
A: Having a mission-driven career allows me to positively impact not only my community but the communities I work in. I can hold my head up high knowing what I do is in line with God’s will and am helping advance the mission of the faith-based organizations I work with to help further their reach.
Q: What is the most rewarding thing about your work?
A: Three things really. First is when we kick things off with a new organization and there is excitement in the air by the leadership. Second is once we are in the thick of things and the leadership along with the congregation begin seeing that their faith-filled generosity is resulting in success and have the realization that the goal is not only achievable, we may even surpass the goal! Third are the success stories from the organizations once their plan has come to fruition and the community is forever grateful.
Q: What is the most surprising thing you’ve learned while working as a campaign director?
A: It has been fascinating to see how many communities throughout the country Greater Mission has worked with over the years. I appreciate how we get to work with folks from all aspects of the church community to have a successful campaign that truly serves the greater community’s needs.
Q: What have you found that people are most surprised by when they begin working with Greater Mission?
A: The camaraderie that exists within the organization. Everyone wants you to be successful and are willing to take time out of their busy days to help guide you to success.
Q: What would you say to someone whose organization could benefit from Greater Mission’s services?
A: Let’s work together! Take advantage of the FREE consultation, you have nothing to lose…. IT’s FREE! Allow us to take a deep dive look at your organization and what will result are the steps necessary to achieve success.
Q: Is there anything else you’d like to share?
