Community acknowledges who we are as the Church – sisters and brothers who must commit to grow in a loving, self-giving relationship with each other. We need each other and, only together, can we fulfill our purpose as the Body of Christ – as co-partners in building God’s Kingdom.
“The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I have no need of you,’ nor again the head too the feet, ‘I have no need of you.’ Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it” 1 Cor 12:21,27
The With All Your Heart model includes a parallel track to the four seasons called Community – functioning throughout the year in three key ways. Community promotes small groups as a way for parishioners to support each other in their life journeys. Community also supports the continued welcome of all people into the active life of the parish. And Community builds understanding and unity between diverse parishioners, inviting them to serve together as co-missionaries for the Kingdom of God.
A. Create or expand small Christian communities and faith sharing groups organized in various ways (by common interest, by neighborhood) as a way for parishioners to build caring relationships with each other and grow in their lifelong faith journey.
B. Recruit a team of Bridge-Builders to build understanding, respect and unity within the parish across ethnic and age lines.
C. Establish hospitality ministry to increase level of welcome at Sunday Masses.
D. Conduct a parish census to reconnect with parishioners and to learn about pastoral care needs.
E. Design a new member welcome model that includes a parish mentor family for a period of time.
