“For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so, through the obedience of the one, the many will be made righteous.” (Rom 5:19)
The readings this first Sunday of Lent all point to God’s desire for us to be completely and radically obedient to His Kingship over our lives. The mercy and saving power of Jesus intercedes to gives us hope – no matter how far or how many times we have fallen to sin by our actions or failure to act. While we are no match for Satan on our own, we are not alone. Satan is no match for Jesus as he demonstrates in the Gospel today. Our first step is to humbly desire to be radically obedient to God, with the help of the Holy Spirit. Then we will experience great blessing which is the fruit of radical obedience.
