For God delivered all to disobedience, that he might have mercy upon all. (Romans 11:32)
More than anything, we need the mercy of God. You, me, the Church, the world. Mercy is the fulfillment of God’s plan to deliver his love through Jesus, his Son and our Saviour. For a follower of Jesus Christ, everything begins and ends with His loving mercy. As St. Paul writes, God allows us to fall disobediently so that he can demonstrate his great love for us, which we cannot earn or deserve. Though it comes at the greatest cost to Christ, it is free to us. Knowing God’s mercy, we can fulfill our mission to become genuine instruments of God’s merciful love for others. That is how God might have mercy upon all.
