“If the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into, So to you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
Derived from the Latin word “adventus,” Advent means “coming” or “arrival.” With great hope, we anticipate the arrival of our Lord and Savior born to us as the light of the world at Christmas; and also at the end of time when he comes again. We pray, we repent, we give of ourselves more faithfully, and we make more room in our hearts for the holy and living presence of Jesus Christ. Advent is a season to practice a greater focus on staying awake to help us be prepared for the coming of Jesus Christ in every moment of our lives.
