“The desert and the parched land will exult. The steppe will rejoice and bloom. They will bloom with abundant flowers and rejoice with joyful song.”
These are the words we pray in the first reading from the prophet Isaiah. We celebrate Gaudete Sunday halfway through the preparation season of Advent. We are a people who are always looking forward with great hope. Even if we find ourselves in a desert place, we have the greatest reason to rejoice because our Savior and Lord Jesus is born to us. Our souls patiently await him in silence and stillness. Yes, He is the one. Rejoice!
Petition:
That we may rejoice in the depths of our hearts as we await the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ….
